Play in your own SpiceDB Playground: SpiceDB Playground is now open source and self-hostable. Dive into modeling permissions instantly - it’s the quickest way to start using SpiceDB!
Every month thousands of users leverage the AuthZed hosted Playground, which will continue to be available for those who want to build and share their schemas online.
Quickest and easiest way to use SpiceDB
Whether you’re new to SpiceDB or onboarding your dev team, the Playground is an excellent starting point. It allows you to build, test, and iterate modeling permissions non-destructively, with preloaded examples and relationship data to get you started.
Rich schema and relationship editors
The Playground features a rich text editor with SpiceDB schema syntax highlighting and checking, alongside a relationship data editor with schema-aware autocomplete.

Full SpiceDB and zed instances running via Wasm
The Playground runs full instances of SpiceDB and zed, the SpiceDB CLI, via WebAssembly (Wasm). This ensures that authorization queries and validations run identically in the Playground as they do in a deployed SpiceDB instance, so you can have confidence in schemas designed in your Playground. Additionally, users have access to a fully-featured zed CLI instance within the Playground, facilitating the testing of commands for scripting SpiceDB.
Collaborative workspaces
Easily collaborate on permissions system designs by sharing exported Playground YAML files, which contain portable schema definitions and relationship data.
